Advantages of Brazing Honeycomb Panels
Updated : Feb. 18, 2024Brazing honeycomb panels
Brazed honeycomb panels are metal composite panels typically comprised of two layers of metal surface panels sandwiching a metal honeycomb core. These panels are connected through brazing, where the honeycomb core and surface panels are joined using brazing material, rather than traditional adhesive methods.
This processing technique endows brazed honeycomb panels with a series of prominent features:
- High drum peel strength, generally greater than 200N mm/mm, with the honeycomb core exhibiting a tearing state.
- Compressive strength ranges from 4 to 20MPa.
- Tensile strength exceeds 10MPa.
- Superior impact resistance compared to similar products. Tested with a 500g cement ball at a speed of 350Km/h, the performance of the welded aluminum honeycomb panel fully meets design requirements.
- Sound insulation of standard specification products is ≥26dB. Through specification and structural changes, sound insulation can reach 33dB or more.
- Meets the requirements of EN 1363-1:2012 fire resistance test, withstands temperatures above 600℃.
- Surface density of 20mm thickness is 810Kg/㎡, and bulk density is 0.40.8*10³Kg/m³.
- The material is non-combustible, produces no toxic or harmful substances, and is 100% recyclable without any pollution.
The application of brazed honeycomb aluminum panels
The brazed honeycomb aluminum sandwich panels are widely used across various industries due to their superior performance.
- In the rail transportation sector, they are employed in vehicle skirts, equipment enclosure panels, inter-vehicle partitions, roofs, walls, vehicle floors, door systems, vehicle structures, and front-end skins.
- In the defense industry, they find applications in runway panels for emergency runways, cabins, bunkers, missile launch tubes, and radar enclosures.
- In aerospace, they are utilized for satellite structural components and aircraft structural components.
- In the maritime industry, they are used for ship structural components and interior fittings.
Chalco's continuously innovation in the field of honeycomb aluminum panel
Building upon the successful development of welded aluminum honeycomb sandwich panels, Chalco has further succeeded in developing various welded lightweight metal structural materials:
- pure metal foam aluminum sandwich panels,
- corrugated sandwich panels,
- ultra-thin sandwich panels,
- honeycomb energy-absorbing materials, etc.
These materials find wide applications in passive protection for train energy absorption, automobile energy absorption, and critical facility protection.
