Gauge is used to specify the thickness of the metal plate. Gauge (Ga.) is a diameter length measurement unit originating from North America and belongs to the Browne&Sharpe measurement system.

Unlike inches and mm, there is no conversion formula for Ga. Even if non-ferrous metal plates and steel plates are of the same gauge, the thickness is actually different.
